If you're reading the list, we don't know who you are. There's no account, no login, and no tracking of you across the internet.
If you sign up, we store your email address and which link brought you here (for example a Reddit post), so we know which channels are worth keeping up.
Emails are sent through Resend. Every one has a one-click unsubscribe at the bottom, and unsubscribing stops them straight away. Ask and we'll delete your address entirely.
We count how many people open a page or an event, using a short code worked out from your IP address that changes every day.
It can't be traced back to you, can't follow you between websites, and isn't combined with anything else. Your IP address itself is never stored. It exists so we can tell whether 5 people or 500 read a listing.
If you report that an event is wrong, we store what you reported and any note you added, so it can be fixed.
If you send us an event to list, we store the event details and your contact email so we can reply and credit the organiser properly.
Events come from venues' and organisers' own public listings, and each one credits and links back to its source. That information was already public; happs gathers it in one place.
If you run a venue and want your events corrected or removed, email leo@happs.ca and it's done within a day.
Most people never need one. A few businesses have a happs account so they can manage their own listings, and it holds only what they typed in: business name, contact details, locations, opening hours, and the email address and password used to sign in.
A small private test group also uses a happs mobile app. It stores what they save and post, and, only if they allow it, uses their phone's location to work out which neighbourhood to show them. The neighbourhood is stored. Coordinates and location history are not.
The data sits in Supabase (database and accounts) and email goes through Resend. The website runs on Vercel. That's the whole list, and each is used only to run happs.
We'll only ever hand information to anyone else if the law requires it.
You can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted, and we'll do it. One email is enough, and you don't need to give a reason.
happs is run from Ontario, Canada, and follows Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA).
happs isn't aimed at children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect anything from them. If you think that has happened, email leo@happs.ca and it will be deleted.
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the date at the top changes and anyone on the email list is told.
