happs

What is happs?

A free list of what's actually on across the GTA this week.

I'm Leo, and I live in Vaughan. A while ago I tried to work out what was happening near me that weekend and couldn't. Eventbrite showed me a handful of things downtown. The library's calendar was a PDF. The venue up the road had a gig on that I only heard about afterwards, from a friend.

The information existed. It was just scattered across a few hundred websites that nobody has time to check.

So happs pulls it together. It reads events straight from venues' own listings, refreshes twice a day, and puts them in one list organised by day. Concerts, markets, festivals, library programmes, comedy nights, street parties, museum lates, whatever is on.

How it works

Every event comes from the organiser's own page, and every listing links back to it. happs doesn't sell tickets, doesn't take a cut, and isn't a middleman: if you want to go to something, you go to the venue.

Times, dates and prices come from the source. When something is wrong, there's a report button on every event, and I fix it.

What it costs

Nothing, and there's no account. It's a web page with a list on it.

There's a weekly email if you'd rather it came to you: one message on a Thursday with the best of the week across the GTA, and one click to leave.

Where it covers

Toronto, Vaughan, Markham, Richmond Hill, and a growing amount of Mississauga, Brampton, Stouffville, Whitby, Oshawa and Burlington. Toronto has the most; the suburbs are catching up as more venues get added.

Running events?

Send them over and I'll add them, free. Here's how.
